Clawson Proposes $800 million To Expedite Repairs To Hoover Dike

U.S. Representative Curt Clawson Proposes $800 million To Expedite Repairs To Hoover Dike.

Legislation would set aside $800 million and expedite the repairs to the Hoover Dike to 2020, 4 to 6 years ahead of the current schedule.

The City Of Sanibel issued the following news release last evening.

“Upon hearing that U.S. Representative Curt Clawson introduced legislation today to speed up repair of the Hoover Dike Sanibel Mayor Kevin Ruane responded

“Action is what we need if we are to make progress on the water quality front.  Congress member Clawson is proving he is a man of action.  We are prepared to provide full support to  Congress member Clawson’s efforts to have this bill adopted by Congress.  Our environment and our economic vitality deserve nothing less.” 

Earlier today U.S. Representative Curt Clawson, whose congressional  district includes Sanibel, introduced legislation that would set aside $800 million and expedite the repairs to the Hoover Dike  to 2020, 4 to 6 years ahead of the current schedule.  Click here to read the Bill introduced today by Congress member Clawson.

Last week Sanibel Mayor Kevin Ruane and a delegation representing all six of the Mayors of the cities of Lee County met with members of Congress, including Clawson, in Washington, D.C. to discuss the devastating impacts of the current Lake Okeechobee releases.”
