Damage To Environment Is “A Bit Like Terrorism.” – Porter Goss, Former Director Of CIA

The issue of water policy, management and governance in Florida is not new to the state in recent months.

People and organizations from very diverse and far points on the political spectrum have been raising the issue of clean water and the potential threat for many years in Florida

Here’s Porter Goss, former Republican Congressman and Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, in Gulf Shore Life in August 2010.

“If anybody doubts the damage we are seeing done to our environment is any less than the damage that was done on Sept. 11 to our country, they’re fooling themselves. This is serious damage, and it’s not going away unless we deal with it.”  Porter Goss

And in January, WJCT reported on the potential for a Flint-like water crisis in Florida.

“Florida Coastal School of Law Professor Eric Hull warns Florida could experience a water crisis like Flint, Michigan, if policies aren’t reversed.

As the Democratic & Republican presidential primaries’ focus moves south to Florida in the coming days, renewed debate is likely to occur on recent and historical water policy and governance decisions in Florida, with Flint, Michigan as a continuing significant and still unfolding backdrop and lesson on just how badly public health can be damaged for decades if water safety is ignored.
