Sanibel Island 10K Race 4 F.I.S.H., October 18, 2014
The 6th Annual 10K Race 4 F.I.S.H. on October 18th!
The race will begin at 7:30am on October 18, 2014 at the Sanibel Community House and will follow a marked 10K circuit around the island, complete with water stations, returning to the Sanibel Community House for the finish line. There will also be a trade fair as well as refreshment tables for runners and spectators.

F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva, Inc. is a leading nonprofit, non-sectarian, human services organization focused on “neighbors helping neighbors” on Sanibel and Captiva islands. The mission of F.I.S.H. is to lend a helping hand to those in need on Sanibel or Captiva who live, work or visit here. Our objective is to make a social investment in our community that assists our neighbors to live independently with dignity in their homes.
F.I.S.H. impacted the lives of 1,217 households comprised of 1,634 individuals on Sanibel and Captiva. Some of our major accomplishments include:
- Subsidized 75 households with $166,634 of emergency financial assistance
- Provided $150,148 of other client support through various programs
- Sponsored $10,456 in island youth scholarships
- Distributed 76,459 pounds of food to 295 households
- Supplied 1,652 backpacks with weekend food supplies throughout the year
- Transported clients to 193 non-emergency medical related appointments
- Delivered 2,565 meals to clients with limited mobility or needing assistance
- Loaned 483 pieces of medical/health equipment
- Assisted 58 elderly or disabled households with hurricane preparedness
We genuinely thank our volunteers for providing 6,311 hours of service and for driving 27,319 miles on behalf of F.I.S.H. and our clients.
