Charley Pass, North Captiva, Hurricane Charley, Storm Path, Captiva, Florida, August 13, 2004, 10 Year Anniversary.
6-13-14, Today is Friday, June 13, so we’re just a little over 60 days from the 10 Year anniversary of Hurricane Charley.
Charley Pass was cut into the south end of North Captiva by Hurricane Charley and is a good example of the constantly changing shape of the barrier islands.
Charley Pass almost immediately began filling in with sand and ten years later North Captiva has returned to being “whole,” at least until the next big storm.
You can still see sunken trees and debris strewn by Hurricane Charley on the bay side of Charley Pass and even pull a few big snook out of the habitat at the right time of the year!
