Hurricane Charley 10 Year Anniversary ~ Day After Aerial Photo

Looking toward the gulf on the morning of Saturday, August 14, 2004, the day after Charlie, I think.

The blue tarps are not on yet, so it has to be either Saturday or Sunday as people were just beginning to assess the damage.

You can get a sense of how Hurricane Charley’s winds denuded the island of vegetation and put a lot of holes in roofs!

It took a good five years for the mangroves to significantly recover, but they did.  Nature heals itself!
