Blind Pass Dredging To Begin With Initial Equipment Staging February 8.
The Captiva Erosion Prevention District Board issued the following news release.
“The Lee County Department of Natural Resources has shared an estimated schedule for the Blind Pass Maintenance Project with CEPD.
Work is scheduled to commence with contractor mobilization of equipment, pipes and set up on February 8, 2017 and continue to approximately February 20. Actual dredging and sand movement will begin on the landward side of the bridge on February 21.
Once the landward side dredging is complete, an intermediate mobilization and pipeline setup in preparation for the dredging on the seaward side of the bridge will begin March 7 with dredging anticipated to begin Gulf side of the bridge on March 11.
Contractors estimate that they will complete the project by May 2.
Beach fill will first be placed within in a north fill template as shown on the diagram until that area is filled to capacity. The remaining fill will be used in a fill a section south of the north fill template.”
