On Thursday, April 21, Lee County will hold an informational meeting about the Blind Pass Inlet Management Plan, which is in the process of being prepared. The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Sanctuary, 2801 Wulfert Road on Sanibel. It is important to have a good turnout for these meetings, so please mark your calendars.
A key piece of property totaling 8.5 acres at the entrance to Wulfert Road has come up for sale. This land would provide an important corridor for wildlife, linking the Refuge and SCCF land. the Wulfert Land Acquisition Campaign, spearheaded by Ding Darling Wildlife Society — Friends of the Refuge. To find out more about the campaign to purchase this property for Ding Darling, an informational meeting will be held at 4:30-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 24 at the Sanctuary clubhouse, 2801 Wulfert Road, Sanibel. The Captiva Community Panel will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 12, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Cone Rooms in Chadwicks Square at South Seas Island Resort. This meeting is open to all interested islanders and the public.

The Captiva Erosion Prevention District will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 13, at 1 p.m. at Tween Waters Inn. Call the district at 472-2472 or go to http://mycepd.com for further information.
The Hurricane Preparedness Committee will hold its annual preparedness seminar on Wednesday, April 13, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Community Center. Featured speakers will be Jim Bjosted from the Lee County Emergency Operations Center and a weather person from WBBH NBC-2. Hurricane passes will be available after the meeting.
The City of Sanibel is now issuing 2016 series hurricane passes. ALL island residents, property owners and businesses need to apply for a new 2016 series pass. Applications for the new passes are available in the Police Department/Emergency Management section of the Sanibel website, www.mysanibel.com, and at the Sanibel Police Dept. office at 800 Dunlop Road. Passes issued at the Police Dept. are done Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
