Legislation would set aside $800 million and expedite the repairs to the Hoover Dike to 2020, 4 to 6 years ahead of the current schedule.

Earlier today U.S. Representative Curt Clawson, whose congressional district includes Sanibel, introduced legislation that would set aside $800 million and expedite the repairs to the Hoover Dike to 2020, 4 to 6 years ahead of the current schedule. Last week Sanibel Mayor Kevin Ruane and a delegation representing all six of the Mayors of the cities of Lee County met with members of Congress, including Clawson, in Washington, D.C. to discuss the devastating impacts of the current Lake Okeechobee releases.”
