WEATHER ALERT: SANIBEL TORNADO WATCH UNTIL 6 AM, MONDAY, JANUARY 23, 2017

The City of Sanibel issued the following news release at 10:37 PM Sunday.

“Sanibel is now under a Tornado Watch until 6 am, Monday, January, 23, 2017. The current threats are isolated hail; wind with isolated gusts up to 70 mph possible & tornadoes possible.

A “Sanibel Tornado Watch” means that conditions are favorable for tornadoes to form during the next several hours. IF A TORNADO WARNING IS ISSUED FOR SANIBEL, MOVE TO A PLACE OF SAFETY, IDEALLY AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF A STURDY BUILDING.
