Sanibel Weather Related Traffic Alert
Update: At this time the sagging power line on San-Cap Road has been corrected & the roadway is re-opened at San-Cap.
Also the tree totally blocking Dixie Beach Road has been removed & the roadway is all clear.
The City Of Sanibel issued the following news release today at 4:27 PM/E.
“San-Cap Road temporally closed due to sagging power-line & City Crews Responding to Trees Down in Various Locations
Due to the current storm passing over Sanibel Island a sagging power-line over San-Cap Road near Blind Pass has TEMPORILY closed SAN-Cap Road to all traffic. Sanibel Police Department and Fire District are both on the scene and LCEC are in route to make the repair.
Additionally City Crews are responding to various trees down around the Island. At this time the north
Traffic Backed-up On Captiva Drive.
end of Dixie Beach Road is closed due to a downed tree. The City Public Works equipment will be escorted through Periwinkle traffic to open Dixie Beach Road.
Due to the lighting all Traffic Aids have been removed from the intersections. PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION & IN CONISIDERATION OF THE CURRENT WEATHER CONDITIONS.”
