October Can Be Best Sanibel Fishing Of The Year!
Other than tarpon season in May and June, October can often be the best Sanibel fishing of the year … and Captiva fishing, too!
As the weather gradually cools, the water also begins to cool, and bait fish are pushed south along the Florida coast.
The sport fish that feed on the bait fish follow these bunched schools and it makes for spectacular fishing around Sanibel & Captiva in October.
Sharks often circle and move in and out of the fray, attacking and feeding on the larger fish, and you can have National Geographic-like fishing and nature encounters, both just offshore on the gulf side and inshore on the bay side of Sanibel & Captiva.
If you are a fly fisherman, casting into the bait fish schools can be an experience of a lifetime, because you are never quite sure what you may catch!
