Severe Weather Advisory
The City Of Sanibel issued the following release.
“The City of Sanibel is advising of the potential for a severe weather event to occur Friday January 15, 2016.
The severe weather may occur between 4am and noon. Our area can expect severe thunderstorms, possible damaging wind, isolated tornados and waterspouts. A cold front will be advancing on the Southwest Florida coast and trigger strong to severe thunderstorms in the morning. The most intense dynamics look to be well to our north, but isolated activity is possible in our area.
There will also be a surge in tides to about 2 feet above normal during the afternoon, resulting from southerly winds tonight and more westerly winds tomorrow. Winds will be 20mph tonight and tomorrow with gusts over 30mph.
The Sanibel Police Department strongly urges all residents and visitors to closely monitor the media weather forecasts until the threat of severe weather has cleared.”
