Electrical Utility Construction Scheduled On Captiva Island at “S” Curve – Saturday, February 27, 2016 Through Saturday, March 5, 2016

The City Of Sanibel issued the following news release this afternoon.

The City of Sanibel received the following information from the Lee County Electric Cooperative (LCEC) regarding an electrical utility construction project on Captiva Island at the “s” curve:

LCEC will begin construction work on Captiva Island at the “s” curve this Saturday, February 27, 2016, through Saturday, March 5, 2016. Due to recent vehicle accidents whereas the LCEC electric utility pole was knocked down causing extensive outages, LCEC has made the decision to remove that pole and relocate electrical service underground.

At LCEC, we take great pride in providing reliable service to all our customers. Immediately after the last vehicle accident, LCEC started looking at options to avoid this type of interruption. Crews will be on site to start the work this Saturday and plan to complete it on March 5th, 2016. Flaggers will work along that stretch of road to keep traffic moving.

Call LCEC at (239) 656-2300 with project-related questions.
