“Ding” Darling Doc Ford’s Tarpon Tournament May 9 & 10.

The 4th Annual “Ding” Darling Doc Ford’s Tarpon Tournament will occur on May 9 & 10, 2015.

As in previous years, all donations and silent auction proceeds will benefit the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge.

The “Ding” Darling Doc Ford’s Tarpon Tournament is expected to once again have 50 boats, 200+ anglers, competing for nearly $25,000 in cash prizes.  More than $45,000 was raised to support conservation efforts at the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Refuge last year.

This fourth year promises to be even better!  Scheduled for the weekend of May 8 and 9, 2015, the Captain’s/angler’s meeting is May 8.  All sponsors and participants are invited to attend and enjoy food, drinks and a silent auction. The following morning, May 9, is the actual tournament and that evening is the “Silver King for Ding” After Party for the anglers, sponsors and the general public. Awards, food, drinks, live music and an auction will be a part of the festivities.

The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge is the location of the first recorded Tarpon caught and it is fitting that the Friends of the Refuge hosts a tarpon tournament to benefit the refuge and its work in protecting the wildlife on land in the water.

This Tarpon Tournament celebrates Southwest Florida’s history of Tarpon fishing and overall conservation and wildlife protection through this tournament.

The tournament will award prizes to the top 5 teams!
