“The last couple of months have been a very busy time for the construction crew building the new fire station for the Captiva Island Fire District. We have finally finished the majority of the site work and the structure of the building has been completed. It is very exciting to see the interior walls framed and mechanicals being installed!

A few of the key portions of the build that have been completed in the past few weeks:

  • Roof decking and sheathing has been installed.
  • Windows are going in.
  • Interior door frames and wall framing started.
  • Mechanical rough in first and second floors.

In the coming weeks and months there will be many exciting advancements to the interior. We will be

finishing all mechanicals and framing, drywall will start to go up, and the exterior facades of the building will begin to be installed. It is good news that we are getting to the end of the project in the coming months as we enter into “season” on the island.

This new fire station will serve our community as the hub and principal location for all emergency responses to medical emergencies, fires, and natural disasters such as the hurricanes that routinely threaten our area. We would like to thank all the residents of the island for their continued support of this project.”
