Sanibel Annual Street Resurfacing Project Begins Tuesday, September 16
The City Of Sanibel issued the following release.
“The City of Sanibel’s Annual Street Resurfacing Project will commence Tuesday, September 16, 2014. Every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience to the public. The paving will be done during normal daytime hours. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained at all times.
The public is reminded to use caution when traveling through a construction zone. Travelers may want to consider West Gulf Drive as an alternate route while Sanibel Captive Road is being paved. The following streets are included in this project:
Beach Road (south)
Pyrula Street
Tarpon Bay Road (W. Gulf Drive to Island Inn Road)
Sanibel Captiva Road (from Tarpon Bay Road to 600ft west of Rabbit Road)
The following is the Contractors tentative paving schedule and is subject to change due to weather and workload:
Tuesday 9/16 – Beach Rd. and Pyrula Ave.
Wednesday 9/17- Pyrula Ave and Tarpon Bay Rd.
Thursday 9/18 – Tarpon Bay Rd
Friday 9/19 – Shoulder placement on above paved streets.
Monday 9/22- Wednesday 10/1- San-Cap Rd.
Every year the City resurfaces selected roads based upon a time schedule and existing condition. This year’s road resurfacing contract amount is $490,247.89 involving full-width resurfacing of four streets mentioned, and several miscellaneous small paving projects. The contractor is required to complete the project within 45 days.
