Sanibel Artist Debuts New Show!

Local Sanibel artist, Myra Roberts, opened her show Ancient Spirits to Angels on Earth, a retrospective at the Sidney and Berne Davis Art center in Fort Myers. The show is open free to visitors 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday through Jan. 23.

Roberts’ paintings depict the reality and fantasy of Captiva and Sanibel. She has painted historical island figures such as J.N. Ding Darling as well as beach going mermaids and pin-up girls.

The artist is originally from Chicago, but has lived on Sanibel since 1999 and has been capturing island life ever since.

According to news-press. com, “Roberts usually has four or five paintings in various stages of completion. She produces about 45 a year, many of which she donates to area nonprofits like Lee Memorial Health System and Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife.” news-press.com

Her paintings can also be found on postcards at local stores such as Jerry’s supermarket on Sanibel and the Island Store on Captiva. Her website is myraroberts.com.
