As in previous years, all donations and silent auction proceeds benefited the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge.

The “Ding” Darling Doc Ford’s Tarpon Tournament once again had 200+ anglers competing for nearly $25,000 in cash prizes.  The final #’s were still being tallied, but it is estimated that more than $45,000 was raised to support conservation efforts at the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Refuge.

The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge is the location of the first recorded tarpon caught and it is fitting that the Friends of the Refuge hosts a tarpon tournament to benefit the refuge and its work in protecting the wildlife on land in the water.

The Tarpon Tournament celebrates Southwest Florida’s history of tarpon fishing and overall conservation and wildlife protection through this tournament.
