World Record Sized Gopher Tortoise?

“Sanibel Island could be the home to the largest gopher tortoise ever recorded. State scientists are working to confirm if it is in fact the biggest. ‘This is literally twice the size of the gopher tortoises we normally see,’ said Willow Bender with the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife. The numbers don’t lie.
‘So this guy is one of the largest gopher tortoises that we have ever seen. He is 28 pounds, 12.7 kilograms, which is huge,’ said Bender. The average gopher tortoise weighs closer to 15 pounds — meaning this gopher tortoise could be the largest one on record.” Source: NBC 2
