Sanibel Red Tide Report – Red Tide Off Sanibel

Sanibel Red Tide Report, 10-29-14: Red Tide Offshore

There doesn’t seem to be any impact at this time, but FWC continues to report red tide offshore of Sanibel.

Fishing guides haven’t reported any evidence near shore and fishing has been superb.

Midweek Red Tide Update (October 29, 2014)

“Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, was not detected in samples analyzed so far this week in and alongshore of Gulf, Wakulla, Dixie, Levy, Citrus, or Pasco counties.  In southwest Florida, several samples collected in and alongshore of Lee County contained background to medium concentrations of K. brevis.

Satellite images from the Optical Oceanography Laboratory at the University of South Florida show bloom patches along and offshore of the Sanibel Island area (southern Charlotte south to northern Collier counties) in southwest Florida. Samples collected in this region confirm a bloom of K. brevis.

A full report will be available by 5pm on Friday, October 31, 2014.
