Sanibel Police Department Investigating Five Sanibel Burglaries Yesterday

The Sanibel Police Department Is Investigating Five Sanibel Burglaries That Occurred On March 11, 2016.

The City Of Sanibel issued the following news release today at 11:47 AM/E.

Colony Resort, Colony Inn Condos on Sanibel Island, The Sanibel Police Department Is Investigating Five Sanibel Burglaries That Occurred On March 11, 2016.

“The Sanibel Police Department received a call at approximately 8:30 p.m., on Friday, March 11, 2016 from, Sanibel Arms Condominiums regarding a burglary in progress.

The witness heard an unknown person or persons leaving through the bedroom window.  During the investigation, the Sanibel Police Department learned the perpetrator(s) entered the unit through an unlocked window.

The Sanibel Police Department received a second call at approximately 9:45 p.m., on Friday, March 11, 2016 from, Colony Resort regarding a past occurred, unoccupied residential burglary.  During the investigation, the Sanibel Police Department learned the perpetrator(s) entered the unit through an unknown point of entry with no signs of forced entry.

At approximately 10:24 a.m., on March 12, 2016, the Sanibel Police Department discovered three more burglaries at the Colony Estates.  During the investigation, the Sanibel Police Department learned the unknown perpetrator(s) entered one residence an unlocked vehicle and an unlocked trailer.

There has been no suspect apprehended at this time for yesterday’s Burglaries.

Chief William Tomlinson reiterated we cannot overemphasize again the importance of keeping your doors and windows locked at all times as well as reporting any suspicious activity to the Police Department immediately.

The Police Department reminds residents not to make yourself a target of opportunity, “LOCK YOUR DOORS”.
